Opsun aims to develop and manufacture a line of solar products that minimizes the total cost of solar systems by increasing efficiency, reducing material costs and facilitating installation on rooftops and solar farms. We have been steadfast on this goal since 2005. Based in Québec, Canada, Opsun Technologies is composed of a team of PhDs, Masters' in Science, engineers and technical people.
Low-Concentration PV Technology
When industry experts talk of Concentrated Photovoltaics, they are often referring to very high levels of concentration — 500X or even 1000X. At those concentrations, however, systems are completely useless in diffuse lighting conditions. Rather than try to push technological boundaries, Opsun's engineering team decided to focus on what is important: delivering energy to our customers. So, we have developed 3X concentration solar modules with cutting-edge dual-axis tracking systems. In doing so, our solar modules perform well in most lighting conditions, bringing innovative technologies to regions that need it the most, such as Canada and the US North-East. Furthermore, 3X concentration means three times less photovoltaic material, which is by far the most expensive component of a solar module. Finally, our modules feature premium quality high-efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells, a technology that is widely used, proven effective and robust. This means reliable systems that maintain their performance for a long time.
